In this Newport project we wanted to create a beautiful elegant home for entertaining yet durable enough for daily living of two active boys. Our client loves sophisticated soirées. The focal point to this entertainers dream house is a custom wine bar complete with a temperature controlled wine rack, elegant lighting form Tom Dixon The Beat Family Pendants and a waterfall edge wine bar featuring Caesarstone.
Adjacent to the wine wall is an intimate dining area that continues the theme of mixed materials. The wood slab table grounds a sitting area appointed with metal and leather chairs. Brass elements from the Restoration Hardware chandelier pull the space together while allowing the abstract art to be showcased.
In the kitchen we continued the theme of mixed materials using a vertical grain walnut veneer on the island face to create warmth. For the countertop we choose a waterfall edge in Ceasarstone pure white. For durability and to soften the room we selected a white oak, wide plank called Sunrise, by ADM’s Novara Collection.
For the dinning nook, mixed materials became a necessity when the original glass table top was broken, by two undignified culprits wearing Batman pajamas. We modified the table using a black granite slab from Arizona Tile and the original table legs from CB. We continued the mixed material theme by adding a cluster chandler from Arteriors Lighting.
The most important element of this project was combining Love and Play. In this play room we used Stikwood as the wall covering because it is warm and organic and can exist in a modern luxurious home. The mounted marquee lights complimented the natural wood tones of the space beautifully.
