Project Spotlight: Jack Daniel's Distillery Tasting Rooms

At Stikwood, we take pride and feel an overwhelming sense of joy when we see our peel-and-stick reclaimed wood planks used in remarkable designs that tell a story.

Take for example the newly expanded tasting rooms at the Jack Daniel’s Distillery in Lynchburg, TN, designed by Kayla Thomas of Anecdote, a Nashville-based architectural firm with over 40 years of experience in hospitality, civic, commercial, and residential design.

Bringing the Story to Life Through Design

Tourism at Jack Daniel’s has continued to grow over the years, and the distillery needed more space to accommodate the increasing number of visitors eager to experience both the history and the whiskey-making process. Having previously designed two tasting rooms for Jack Daniel’s in 2016, Anecdote was once again entrusted with expanding the experience.

Why Stikwood? A Nod to Tradition

When it came to material selection, Stikwood was the perfect fit for this project. The charring of oak barrels is a fundamental part of crafting Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey, leaving a rich blackened finish on the inside of each barrel stave. This natural aesthetic served as inspiration for incorporating Stikwood’s reclaimed wood planks, which provided both a textured and sleek black-and-white look that perfectly aligned with the brand’s iconic identity.

A Designer’s Perspective

Anecdote has used Stikwood in several projects, each with its own unique design story. For this particular installation, Kayla Thomas appreciated how our peel-and-stick wood planks delivered a high-quality finish with minimal effort, seamlessly enhancing the architectural form of each tasting room.

“I was drawn to the natural textured finish that the planks brought to the space while also creating a sleek black and white look for each tasting room that aligned with the iconic branding of Jack Daniel’s.” — Kayla Thomas
